2021 Update #25

Update: Milling of Merchants Row and Main Street

The Highlights

  • Daytime milling in central downtown on Wednesday and Thursday to be rescheduled

In last Friday’s construction update I let you know that the repaving of Merchants Row and Main Street (between Merchants Row and Seymour Street) would begin with the milling of these two downtown roadways during the day on Wednesday, Aug 11, and Thursday, Aug 12, respectively.

Scheduling issues with the paving that will follow the milling mean that the milling timeline will now need to be adjusted. I’ll be back with an update once I have a new schedule in hand.

Milling, as you probably know from recent driving adventures around town, is the removal of the top layer of asphalt from a street prior to repaving. That asphalt is then recycled for reuse on other road/driveway projects.

That’s all for today. See you downtown.

Please keep your comments and questions coming. Send me an email at jgish@townofmiddlebury.org and I’ll try to cover it in my next update.
